Cook, Walter

Walter Cook is an Economics of Education fellow (IES grant) and is currently in his first year of doctoral studies in the Educational Policy program at Michigan State University after transferring from the Economics doctoral program this past summer. His research interests involve the political economy of education, specifically looking at how economics and politics intersect in order to create educational policy that balances the competing interests of maximizing social efficiency and equity of access. For example, as a MA student at Sacramento State University, his research examined the role that changing demographics of undergraduates impacted state appropriations for public universities. He completed his BA in Political Science from UC Davis in 2005.
