Guides and documents for collaboratings teacher working with juniors or seniors

The Collaborating Teacher Guide: Supporting the Professional Learning of Teacher Candidates* provides extensive information regarding your work with juniors or seniors as part of their course work in TE 301 (junior year) or TE 401/2 (senior year):

  • Contact information for LAET personnel
  • How are field placement organized?
  • Responsibilities in working with teacher candidates
  • Helping teacher candidates get the most out of their field experiences
  • Core mentoring practices
  • Appendices

* To download this 27-page guide you must have Adobe Reader (version 5.0 or higher).

In addition, there are 3 documents that are useful to have as MS Word or RTF files so you can work with them. These documents are accessible below:

1) You will be asked toward the end of the semester to fill out an evaluation of your teacher candidate (junior or senior). This feedback is given to the teacher candidate and helps the course instructors keep in touch with how candidates are participating in the classroom. Your Teacher Education Liaison (TEL) will remind you of due dates for the form.

2) Teacher candidates should fill out a field placement log regularly (kept in a folder in your classroom) so you and they have a record of days/times they were at the school and how they spent their time. This will help you keep a record of attendance and it's also a place to write reminder notes to the candidate.
