Some MSU student services

MSU provides an extensive collection of links for students at http://www.msu.edu/current/index.html. For Detroit Area interns, a list of local services available after 5 p.m. and on weekends appears at the end of the list.

Career Services and Placement. This office assists students in the College of Education who are activating a Placement File, preparing resumes, researching employers, and preparing for job interviews.  Office staff assist teacher certification students in career planning and understanding labor market research. See the "student" pages at http://www.csp.msu.edu.

Center for Service-Learning and Civic Engagement. Look here for for volunteer experiences and internships related to their major. See http://www.servicelearning.msu.edu.

Counseling Center.  Even normal, capable, intelligent, and reasonable persons like the members of this class sometimes face situations and problems that they find difficult to deal with by themselves.  Team Two's instructors or cluster leaders might be able to help.  Also, MSU has an Office of Student Affairs and Services, with a Counseling Center. See http://www.counseling.msu.edu.

Family Resource Center. Offers a range of services for families, including a babysitters' list and a family resource guide for students with children. See http://www.frc.msu.edu.

Learning Resources Center (LRC).The LRC provides instructional facilities, staff, and materials for MSU students interested in improving thinking, reading, writing, listening, study, time management, and test-taking skills.  Appointments are not necessary.  All services and workshops are provided free of charge. See http://www.msu.edu/~lrc.

Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities (RCPD).  Students who have special needs and require accommodations in testing or other aspects of course-taking should speak to the instructor and call the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities at 353-9642.  The RCPD website is at http://www.rcpd.msu.edu .

Office of Supportive Services at MSU. "The Office of Supportive Services (OSS) is a multifaceted holistic retention initiative designed to address the needs of College Achievement Admission Program (CAAP) students; first generation and low income students, and students who meet other participant criteria." See http://www.msu.edu/~oss/

Study Abroad: International Studies and Programs. See http://studyabroad.msu.edu

The Testing Office, Registration materials for the LSAT, GRE, MCAT, and GMAT are available here, as well as foreign language placement tests. See http://www.testingoffice.msu.edu. Registration materials for the MTTC are available in the College of Education Student Affairs Office, 134 Erickson Hall.

Writing Center.  Teachers are models and coaches of writing for their students, and must communicate effectively in writing with colleagues, parents, and others.  For those reasons, teacher candidates are expected to write effectively and conventionally.  If you need more help in meeting those expectations than you can get from your instructors and other teacher candidates, try the Writing Center at http://writing.msu.edu.
