*TESOL/English as a Second Language requires candidates to document experience learning a second language in order to gain an understanding and appreciation of the processes of learning an additional language. Additionally, the TESOL/ESL minor must be paired with an academic core endorsement (an approved major or minor), including: Language Arts, Social Studies, Integrated Science, Math, English, Geography, History, or World Languages. To be endorsed (recommended for certification) in ESL, teacher candidates must be concurrently endorsed in the approved paired major or minor, having passed the appropriate MTTC subject tests in both ESL and the paired subject area. See an Education advisor for more information.
