Application Checklist

There are two applications that are to be submitted separately.

1. University Application

• Michigan State University Application for Admission to Graduate School form (download or complete on-line for submission with the web application.)
• Application fee
  

2. Department Application

• Department Application
• Statement of Goals
• Three (3) official letters of recommendation (sealed)
• Two (2) official transcripts for all previous college or university work (separate transcripts must be obtained from each college attended for one year or more)
• GRE (Graduate Record Examination) scores from the General Test for all applicants. Scores must be less than 5 years old.
• TOEFL, for international applicants whose first language is not English
• Vita or resume
• Writing Sample
