GSEO Summer MA Scholarship Program

MSU GSEO has a limited number of $500-1000 scholarships available to full-time teachers and administrators employed by international schools, who are MA candidates at its summer center in Plymouth, England. The requirements for eligibility and the deadlines for summer semester 2008 follow below. Applicants will not be considered after the deadlines cited.

Eligibility

Applicants must be full-time educators at an international or DoDDs school.

Applicants must be admitted for summer semester to the MACT, MAET or MAEAD. Graduate School applications are due no later than February 15, 2008. New and current MA candidates are eligible. Admissions information and applications are on the GSEO web site under each MA program description.

US nationals or permanent residents must qualify for and be a recipient of a Federally subsidized student loan for summer 2008. Loan information is on the GSEO web site under each MA program description. The loan application must be processed and the results must be on file with the MSU office of Financial Aid by March 31, 2008. In order to have results known by this date, FAFSAs will have to be submitted by February 15.

Foreign nationals must provide testimony in the school reference, noted below, that it would be difficult for the applicant to participate without financial assistance.

Submissions and Deadlines

The following materials must be submitted to GSEO no later than March 31, 2008:

A completed 2008 GSEO Summer Reservation form, which can be found at www.educ.msu.edu/gseo , and deposit. (Deposits are refundable if an educator is unable to participate in the 2008 summer program and notification is received by May 1, 2008.) Applicants should remember to check the GSEO Summer Scholarship box on the reservation form.

Two strong letters of reference from the applicant's school head and principal, attesting to their commitment to teaching and leadership in the school. For foreign nationals, the school head's letter should include a statement of the applicant's financial need.

Awards

Decisions regarding scholarship awards will be made by an MSU selection committee based on the funds available, the need of the applicants, their academic performance and strength of recommendations. Notification will be made after March 31, 2008. Scholarships are potentially renewable on an annual basis; reapplication is required.
