Master's Programs for International School Educators

Dear Educator:

We have made several changes in our master's offerings as the College of Education at Michigan State reshapes its outreach services to educators in Michigan, elsewhere in the U.S., and overseas. There is a new option which we would like to bring to your attention. Our online MA in Education presents a wonderful opportunity to access the college’s course offerings, which are flexible in schedule, taught by regular MSU faculty and more accessible than our overseas, on-site courses.

Beginning in fall 2007, we are actively encouraging international school educators to enroll in our online MA in Education (MAED) . This program will replace two of our current summer on-site master's programs in Plymouth, England: the MA in Curriculum and Teaching and the MA in Educational Administration . The MAED program has been successfully offered virtually to national and international audiences for six years and has a broad set of course offerings across the College's curriculum, which is well beyond our current, summer on-site offerings in Plymouth, England. Students may select one or two areas of concentration that offer choices such as special education, technology and learning, school leadership, literacy, science and mathematics education, and sport leadership and coaching. Courses are available throughout the year and accessible through widely available technology.

In addition to the MAED program, the college will continue the on-site MA in Educational Technology (MAET) in Plymouth, England as in the past. The excellent technology and living facilities at Plymouth provide essential support to offer a quality on-site program in an environment that is highly conducive to face to face learning.

We've enjoyed working with international school educators for a number of years and will continue to welcome the international school community into our programs in the future.

Sincerely,

Susan L. Melnick
