offers two graduate programs: a Master’s Degree
in Rehabilitation Counseling and a doctoral degree in
Rehabilitation Counselor Education. The program is rated
as one of the top Rehabilitation Counseling programs in
the country by U.S. News and World Report. The employment
success and diversity of our graduates attests to the mission
of the program to train the highest quality professionals.
Masters
Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling
The master's degree program is accredited by the Council
on Rehabilitation Education (CORE). The program provides
a strong foundation in the profession and practice of
rehabilitation counseling. It offers opportunities to
develop expertise in the areas of counseling, the social
and psychological aspects of disability, the vocational
rehabilitation process, case management, ethical practices,
independent living, disability management, transition
from school to work, vocational assessment, career development
and employment strategies. Individuals interested in
the Master’s program should submit their completed
applications by February 15.

Ph.D.
Degree in Rehabilitation Counselor Education
The doctoral program in Rehabilitation Counselor Education
is designed to prepare individuals, the future stewards
of the profession, for careers as university-level educators
and researchers in the rehabilitation counseling profession.
There currently exists a critical shortage of leaders
in these fields. The doctoral program addresses these
contemporary needs while building on a long tradition
of excellence at MSU. Individuals interested in the
doctoral program should submit their completed applications
by December 1.
