Planning an MACT Program

After carefully reading the program description in the "Program Blocks and Courses" section of the web-site students plan and complete an MACT program. Both students and advisors should be reminded of the following university, department, and program requirements that must be satisfied.

1. All MACT courses must be completed within a five year consecutive time span. For example, if your fist course was taken during fall semester 1994 you must complete your last course by the end of summer semester 1999. For interns, the five year time span begins with the semester in which they completed TE 801.

2. Required courses for all MACT candidates are

Required courses cannot be waived or replaced by independent study course.

3. TE 807 should be taken as early in your program as possible. It should be followed by TE 808 & TE 818. TE 870 or TE 872 should be taken last.

4. Lifelong Education credits:

For students who did not receive their teaching certificate in the MSU five year certification program no more than 10 semester hours completed as a Lifelong Education student can be can be applied to their MACT program.

For students who received their teaching certificate in the MSU five year certification program no more than 12 credits (TE 801, TE 802, TE 803 & TE 804) can be applied to their MACT program.

5. Transfer credit from other institutions: For all MACT candidates, no more than 9 semester hours from other colleges or universities can be applied to their MACT program.

6. You must be enrolled in the MACT program during the semester when your synthesis paper and portfolio are submitted for review.
