Projects & Staff
We currently
have many ongoing research projects some of which are highlighted below.
I believe it is very important to maintain collaborations with various
partnering institutions, therefore some of my research projects are not
only located at MSU but also at the University of Chicago, the National
Opinion Research Center, and Learning Point Associates to name a few.
- The
Data Research and Development Center (DRDC) is a research and
technical center funded by the U.S. Federal Government’s Interagency
Education Research Initiative. As a research center, we work to understand
the factors that are essential for scaling-up promising educational
models, programs, and strategies. As a technical center, we work to
identify – and develop plans to address – the methodological
and other challenges that arise when conducting research on scaling.

- Alfred
P. Sloan Center on Parents, Children, and Work
Supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the Center seeks to examine
how working families make investments in time and resources, how these
choices are made, the effects these investments have on the quality
of relationships in the household, and the resulting socialization of
school-age children and adolescents. The Center's work focuses on analyzing
existing databases as well as conducting original data collections.
The Center has conducted intensive interviews with five hundred working
families to investigate more fully the social and economic contexts
that impact family investments and the quality of relationships in both
the household and the workplace. More information: http://www.sloanworkingfamilies.org/
- The REL-Midwest Task 1.2 fast response project
In 2006 Professor Schneider directed a program of work undertaken in collaboration with researchers at NORC at the University of Chicago for the Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) – Midwest, Using Multiple Levels of Data to Address Educational Issues in the Region. Authorized SEA officials can click here to access the data inventory prepared for their state as part of this applied research and development project.
