Jamison, Amy
Amy Jamison comes to MSU’s Education Policy Ph.D. program from UCLA where she completed Masters degrees in African Studies and African History and was awarded four Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships to study Wolof and Kiswahili. She also holds a B.A. in French and Africana Studies from Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Between her undergraduate and graduate programs, she worked as a study abroad advisor at Brown University and became interested in issues of higher education and global learning. Currently, her primary research interests include the history of higher education in Africa, the role of African universities in social and economic development, African intellectuals’ experiences of research and international scholarly collaboration, and global learning in higher education. In 2007 she was awarded a Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad fellowship to pursue her dissertation research at the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.
