Welcome
to the Department of Counseling Educational Psychology, and
Special Education (CEPSE)!
This
web site is your gateway to information about all of the different
programs that CEPSE encompasses.
The
Department of Counseling Educational Psychology, and Special
Education (CEPSE) consists of faculty and graduate students
committed to the study of human learning and development across
the life span.
Learning
is the central purpose of our schools. Current efforts to
change the way all subjects are taught entail radically different
views of learning and knowledge. Knowledge cannot be perceived
as a static entity to be delivered by teachers and absorbed
through practice by students.
Rather,
knowledge and learning must be seen as dynamic, powerful,
and situated within communities of knowers. These new views
of knowledge and learning offer teachers powerful insights
into the processes of student learning.
CEPSE
faculty and graduate students bring an important array of
conceptual, technical and therapeutic perspectives to the
study of learning in a wide variety of contexts.
