Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor
CMH

Opportunities for creativity are endless in my position as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor with Community Mental Health. My goal is to find meaningful, often nontraditional, positions for people with developmental disabilities. My specialty has become jobs in technology. I have helped about 40 individuals, many with cerebral palsy or visual impairments, to get computer literacy training, and many of them have found meaningful jobs. I have worked with people who have disabilities since I was 17 years old. The MSU Rehabilitation Counseling program gave me the vocabulary and the theory necessary to function at a higher professional level and to increase my impact, for example, by grant-writing.
