Individual Appointments and Group Sessions:

Special Education majors are usually advised by the special education advisor. Current MSU students can schedule an advising appointment on-line. Non-MSU students must call (517) 432-2371 to schedule an appointment with an advisor. General advising is also available in the Student Affairs Office in 134 Erickson.  The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am -12:00 noon, and 1:00-5:00 pm.

Usually, early in the semester, you can make an appointment within a week's time. Later on, when the Schedule of Courses book is available on campus, you might have to schedule several weeks in advance. It is best to schedule with an advisor about a week prior to your computer/telephone enrollment date.

Make good use of your advisement sessions.  Prior to each advisement session be sure to review program requirements, create a list of questions, and do a preliminary planning of your schedule.

Group sessions are scheduled at several key times during your undergraduate program.  Freshmen are advised in group sessions during spring semester to review orientation information and to assist with second year scheduling.  Students will also meet in group sessions during March of the sophomore year after admission decisions have been made.  At this time program specifics, testing issues and team information will be reviewed.
